Creating a Company Culture That Works in Today's Technology Age

The trick in defining the corporate culture beyond simply holding true to principles is to actually show your vision to employees and customers via your business practices. In other words, you need to practice what you preach in order to successfully define your corporate culture. It is surprisingly easy for a corporate culture to be successful in today's technological age. Most individuals in the business world are well aware of the technology available, thus this allows technology to become an intricate part in the everyday operation of your business. There is a flip-side to this, however. With so much technology available, certain things might run contrary to or reflect poorly on your company's defined culture. For example, some American companies are currently suffering a corporate culture blow due to their employees' Internet habits. Employees using the Internet for pornographic purposes and for leisure can easily stain your business's name and make the defined corporate culture null and void. This can be eliminated by having different parameters set and defined in your existing culture. It's very important that all employees know that they're not to use company equipment for leisure purposes, and that they're not to perform any activities that can be deemed detrimental to the company's overall vision. This also starts from the very top. Setting a good example on using technology will set the standard for all employees and their activities.If certain technological habits of employees start to run contrary to your culture, then it's important that it be dealt with in a timely fashion. Infraction is contagious in any corporate culture, but quick punishment always helps to reset the tone and to keep employees walking the straight and narrow. This is your business, your corporate culture you cannot be timid in hiring and firing people with a lot of attitude. People coming in to your company after the culture is defined need to know exactly where you stand. Technology can be a distraction if you let it, but for the most part, it can help your business succeed.
