Going Mobile - Keep it Simple
31 May 2010

So, how can you take your business mobile? Well, this is where things get really simple. It is not a hard process to go mobile, nor is it expensive. The first step to the going mobile process is to pick a mobile device. It doesn't really matter here. Get yourself a BlackBerry, iPhone, Smart Phone, or any other mobile device that you can use to stay in touch with people at all times. You should never miss a call or an email. Having a mobile presence will mean that you're always there when your business needs you.Make sure that any mobile device you pick has an option to connect to the Internet. You want to make sure that you can send email with this mobile device. It's not enough to have a simple cell phone anymore that's only make calls and send text messages. Also, you should look into getting a laptop. This way you can carry your entire business with you wherever you decide to go. The ability to work remotely and constantly stay in contact is what going mobile is all about. So far, neither of these steps is expensive or hard to figure out. It's all about keeping yourself in the loop and ensuring that you're always available. Now, here's where you can make the most out of those millions of mobile users. There are a slew of new mobile applications popping up online. These will allow you to create and maintain a fully functional e-commerce website on a mobile scale. This additional outlet won't cost you much at all, and since it's on a smaller scale, there's not much to maintain. Having a mobile device and a mobile presence allows you to fit right in with the fold. You can employ the use of social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook and use them to your advantage.Almost any mobile application you pick will do the lion's share of the work for you. Some even provide payment processing in a mobile site. Regardless of what you select, it's important to take your business mobile. The M-commerce boom is set to be larger than the e-commerce explosion of a few years ago.
