Self-Belief - The Difference between Success and Failure
15 October 2010

It all starts with the confidence in yourself that you can do whatever it takes to make it in business. There's no real way you could ever gain this confidence on the fly and look to artificially harness it to propel you to success. Self-belief doesn't work like that. It cannot be manufactured. In other words: you can't fool yourself; you'd always know it was false. To that end, a strong belief in your character is something that must be developed. Naturally, to develop the self-belief necessary to carry you through a big business venture, you'll have to have scored - or to start scoring - little victories along the way to make you believe that you can not only set a life-changing goal but also strive toward and achieve it.Where does self-belief come into play in business? The more accurate question here would be: where doesn't it come into play. From the inception of your business idea, through the planning process, through the initial building, to the product testing, to the first customer you receive, it really takes the clichd I think I can attitude to pull this off. Without the positive thinking to guide you, you're never going to start out on the right foot. A lack of self-belief will see to it that not even your business idea is good. Besides, if you don't believe in yourself, you could discover how to harness nuclear fusion and convince yourself it would never work. For the individuals struggling with self-belief, it's important to start slowly. Break your business aspirations down in a step-by-step fashion. Work on your planning process first and put your mind to doing a great job. Let someone else see and critique your work. If done well, you'll hear what you need to and score your first victory.Turn this into a chain reaction. Along the way, look to excel at each step outdo the last by putting more effort and heart into it. Before you know it, you will truly believe that you can do anything. That's a success in itself.
