The easy organizing steps for more time, focus and success
01 April 2011

The subject matter of this post may as well be called the Holy Grail of every businessman, or rather, every living individual. It is, after all as elusive and as coveted as the challis. Scores of authors have penned self-help books that readers have devoured, speakers have held entire auditoriums in rapt attention and counselors and advisors have made a lot of money all in an attempt to profess the secret to organizing ones life. Before you brand this as another brick in the wall, please take a look at the points listed out below. While not life-changing or profound in anyway, these tips are full of common sense. They are also extremely simple things that one can do without much fuss. So here goes-1. Wake up early. Lose an hour in the morning, and look for it the rest of the day is a popular phrase by someone very wise. While you may challenge the significance of a morning hour over an evening, the potency of this statement has been vouched for, by many. Mornings are a time when our bodies are somehow much more attentive and high on energy. If you observe carefully, you will notice you can get more work done in that one hour, than any other time throughout the day.2. Sleep at a fixed time
This is something doctors have been advocating for years, but who listens? Sleeping on time helps you wake up on time, and establishes a nice cycle for your body which keeps it comfortable and at peace. When the body is happy, the mind is happy too, ergo you are more happy and able to work better.3. Avoid snoozing like the plague.Snoozing the alarm is a deathly delusion created by Satan himself. A lot of oversleeping happens not because you are unable to wake up, but because you go back to snooze AFTER you wake up. And we all know how that ends.4. Organize your thoughts between tasks.Going from one task to another in a frenzy overwhelms and disorients you. It affects productivity because you havent taken time to establish coherently why and how you want to do things. The result is distraction. Take a couple minutes to see the task at hand and determine its scope, objective and how much time you want to devote to it.5. MeditateThis doesn't necessarily mean spending an hour listening to Buddhists chants. Even 10 minutes spent staring into space or listening to your favorite track can do the trick. The idea is to actively disengage your mind, or try and engage it in only and only one activity.6. Finish tiny tasks at once.If your phone rings with an Alices birthday reminder, dont make an entry in your to-do list; instead make a call. Ensure you keep it to 5 minutes. Tackling small tasks like this at the moment itself reduces stress and workload considerably, instead of remaining on your list forever.
Followed diligently, even half of these tips are sure to pull you out of your self-imposed limbo, to the heaven of success. Get your life on track, and good luck!
