What is reverse google pagerank algorithm?

21 January 2012

It's a pile of rubbish that's what it is, however it does highlight the fact that there are lots of people out there who have no clue about internet marketing and no idea of the terminology, so when emails like these come into their inbox, some people would actually believe it to be useful.

So what is this?

We recently got a spam mail which read like this:

Subject: partnership with ladyluckmedia.co.uk?

Body: John Stahl here. I just wanted to drop you a line and invite you to be a link partner for our website seocopysoftware.com.

I've found your website with the "reverse google pagerank algorithm" which indicates that we both would get better google rankings, when we exchange links.

I've already gone ahead and added your site ladyluckmedia.co.uk to our link directory, could you please verify the description before it will go life at:

So here's the thing, firstly this is rubbish, there is no such thing. They've used confusing yet potentially believable terminology to make them sound clever. It's not clever.

Then what they are basically trying to do is garner a backlink from you. It's a cheeky way of doing it and certainly doesn't fall into the realm of good practice, however I guess hats off to them for trying it.

I think we'll expose a few more of these bad SEO practices and spam tactics so that people are aware, so if you are a spam agency looking to spam us here, beware, we'll be dissecting what you are doing and then publishing it for all to see.
