Which social networks are good for what industries?
26 September 2012

Online businesses in general can benefit from social networking sites, and if these are used correctly it can mean a lot of extra revenue from customers you would not normally have reached. There are many advantages to using these marketing platforms and this includes free advertising, building a solid customer base, establishing your own branding and gaining valuable industry contacts.
There are many social networks available these days, so finding the right platform for your business is obviously something that needs to be investigated thoroughly. If you supply industrial equipment there is little chance of your business expanding into other countries or areas if you choose a social network like Facebook to market your products.
On the other hand if your company supplies new screens for iPhones, Facebook is probably a very good social networking platform to use to promote your goods.
Finding the right social networking marketing platform for your products and services will enhance your chances of reaching your target audience. This will lead to much greater interaction between potential customers and your website and in turn this will lead to greater productivity and sales.
Linkedin is a great social network platform for professionals to use to promote their services and products. It offers the right virtual environment to those who want to use a social networking system on a professional level. There are over 100 million people and businesses that have become members of this social networking site. This translated means it offers a fantastic resource of new contacts and can lead to a very solid customer base.
The point about social networking and how it helps businesses to expand has gone beyond just realising the necessity to do this in order to keep up with competition, because in today’s world, organisations depend on the social networking communities in order to succeed. However, social networking platforms do not just manage themselves, they need to be understood, nurtured and guided intelligently as well as actively.
Google + is preparing to offer a new social networking platform for businesses and with thousands of users already signed up to the consumer version of it, Google promises that it will soon offer businesses a platform to work from with business tools that will rival all its competitors.
There is a test version of the social networking site available for businesses that will eventually link with existing services. But they are struggling to keep up the demand for Google + and have asked businesses not to create Google + accounts with their existing consumer version.
For businesses to succeed in the modern world, social networking websites are the way forward. The key to successfully achieving the results you hope for though, is to know which site is the best suited to the business you are promoting over the Internet. E-commerce websites depend on social networking to market their products or services and anyone who has not jumped on the bandwagon is sorely missing out on everything that it has to offer their businesses.
You have to know just how to use these marketing platforms and by this it means being able to expand your business successfully in the safe knowledge that you are reaching your target audience.
